25th Anniversary Picnic

STMP is proud to announce that this year's Memorial Day picnic will also be a celebration of our 25 years of Service to the Montagnard Community and as such this year's picnic will be bigger and better than the previous 25! Please consider attending to meet and thank the Montagnard folks.

The schedule of events for the week are as follows:

May 26= fishing contest- requirement are 10:00 dollar entry fee and you have to pair up with one montagnard to fish with. The winners will split half the pot

May 27th= Rifle contest- requirements are 2.00 dollars per shot entry fee and the best bulls eye takes half the pot
There will be various calibers and makes of rifles for the tourniment but each target only gets one shot.

May 27 th= Archery competition- requirements are best of three shots at 2.00 dollars for three shots, again the best score will split half the pot

May 28th- 09:00 membership meeting
11:00 Spear throwing competition same rules apply closest splits half the pot.
11:00 Axe throwing competition
13:00 barbecue buffet
18:00 Supper (Saturday buffet and supper costs 15:00 for the whole day)

May 29th= 08:00 Montagnard church service
12:00 Program starts
13:00 lunch served
14:00 awards ceremony
15:00 entertainment
19:00 end of event

 

Montagnard-Dega Association in Financial Trouble  

As always the federal government has seen fit to identify a productive and vital program to cut funds for. This time it was the MDA. Currently MDA has enough finances to operate until about October 2011, after that the program will have to shut down. MDA is a critical program for the Montagnards that provides English and citizenship classes, transportation assistance, employment training, job development and follow up, interpretation and translation and case management.
